Summer days

If you are new to Mums and Meres then Welcome! We are a community of English speaking mothers in France (and French mothers with an interest in English culture). This is a blog space for questions, ideas, exchange, playdate organisation and generally any of the trillions of things that you need as a mum in France (although we can’t help your kids sleep through the night, sorry)

If you are a Mums and Meres regular then check out the new posts in Just for laughs, Mama I’m bored, Tips and Tricks, Books and music and Local information.

And most of all enjoy these lazy, hazy summer days!

    Hi Everyone,

I just learned about a preschool for music and art (ages 18 months to 5 years), and feel compelled to tell everyone I know about it who has a little kid, or knows someone who does. It’s at the music school where my ten year old daughter, Sarah, takes piano, the Ecole Koenig in the 15th.

The atmosphere there is joyous, positive and powerful. As soon as I walk in the door, I feel as if I’m at camp, and I’m only there to pick up my kid! Sarah started taking piano at Koenig when she was eight, after working with two other teachers who almost turned her off music forever. The place has the perfect balance of creative freedom and careful guidance. Her progress since has been incredible.

It’s too bad that we didn’t start earlier. I’d put a musical mobile over her crib, but it broke…. It is clear that early exposure to music, with instruments and interaction does wonders for young minds.

The site explains their philosophy, presents the teachers and describes how the mornings are spent.

It’s also a great place for music lessons for older kids, obviously!
